Tablet weaving

Last month I was taught tablet weaving by an archeologist and I love it. But being tied to the fabric by a belt feels awkward to me. Does anyone here enjoy weaving bands? Do you use some kind of loom or plank?

These are my first tries:



Now I got some finer wool (cotton) to make a trim for some clothes. The thick wool you seen on the photos is nice and soft but a bit too much for this purpose. =)

those are really pretty. what are you going to use these for?

These two were just meant to get some practice. They are too short as straps for a musical instrument and too thick for trimming clothing.

Tying myself to a belt is neccessary (for now) in order to put tension on the warp without technical or financial trickiness. I hope I find some inexpensive method I can construct without becoming a carpenter's apprentice. =)
